The Strawberry Valley Martello - Slow Food from South Tyrol

Strawberry cultivation at the highest level

Cultivated areas at an altitude of 900 to 1,800 m make the Val Martello to the highest cultivation area for tasty strawberries in Europe. The extremely high quality is primarily due to the mild and dry climate as well as the warm days and cool nights. Due to the altitude of the growing areas, the strawberries mature very slowly under the sun. Therefore, they have a very special flavour and are picked at a time when the harvest is already finished in most other areas of Europe.

The sweet, red little fruits make the Martell Valley known beyond its borders as the Strawberry Valley and attract many guests from near and far to our valley every year. During the harvest season, Martell strawberries can be purchased at the South Tyrolean Strawberry World, the sales point of the MEG-Martell producers' cooperative, along with other Val Venosta quality products. Out of season, refined products are offered.
